My EI finally got approved, I just got paid for two weeks that I filed for over a month ago when I was in the process of getting approved. As of yesterday I finally got approved and was allowed to finally catch up and fill out the additional six weeks of reporting.

On EI - leaving Canada for more than couple of months
Leaving for couple months wont affect anything. Just do the biweekly report that you were out of the country. You will still get the same number of payments of ei your entitled to, it will just pause your until you come back. Your ei schedule will be extended to further months.
